Sledgehammer CIS Features
The software is split into five main sections:
Maintenance
Subcontractor Maintenance
Lets you create, update and view individual subcontractors. It is split into three sections or ‘tabs’: Main Details, Payment History and Audit Trail.
Main Details
This tab contains all the main subcontractor information including Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) Verification Number etc.
Payment History
This gives a summary of month-to-date and year-to-date figures including invoice value, cost of materials, tax deducted etc.
Audit Trail
This gives a summary of all activity for that subcontractor such as the date statements were sent, verification numbers etc.
Batch Verification
This contains a list of all subcontractors from which you can select those you want to verify. When these are sent to HMRC, you get a verification number sent back and the details are recorded against the Audit Trail of each subcontractor in the batch.
Deduction Rates
This program allows you to set up the rates use in the CIS system should they be changed in future by HMRC. They are currently set up to Nil, 20% and 30%.
Posting
Enter Payments
This allows you to enter invoice details from subcontractors at any time during the month before submitting the return. It allows you to put in the gross amount and materials value, and calculates tax to be deducted based on the rate for that subcontractor. The total amount to actually pay is then displayed.
Once a payment is entered, it is posted against the individual subcontractors account as a payment. When the return is submitted, it is shown against the individual entry.
Reports
Subcontractor Listing Report
This report program consists of three standard reports that provide the main details on subcontractors including CIS and company details, and payment summaries. There is an option to exclude subcontractors that have no payments in the current month or year-to-date.
Payment History Report
This allows you to print a complete summary of payment details for all or a range of subcontractors, between certain date ranges.
Re-Print Statements
This allows you to reprint or resend subcontractor statements at any time for any period.
Audit Listing
This allows you to report on details included in the Audit Trail section of contractor maintenance, including verification details, payments, statements sent etc.
Monthly Returns
Payments Review
This contains a summary of all payments ready for submitting as a return in the current period, including subcontractor details, invoice value, tax deducted etc.
Value
This provides a summary of what will actually be submitted to HMRC. This provides an opportunity to check, amend, delete etc. individual payments as required necessary, before submitting to HMRC and producting subcontractor statements.
Subcontractor Statements
This is where you print or email the monthly statement for the subcontractors due payments in the current period. The statements are processed as a batch.
HMRC Monthly Returns
This is where you actually submit your electronic return for the current period to HMRC using the Internet.
Utilities
Contractor Setup
This allows you to create and amend your contractor details. In the multi-company version, it also allows you to select the company you want to work in.
User Setup
This allows you to create and maintain users, user access etc.
Parameters
This is where you set up your internet connections etc. for submitting electronic monthly returns.
Backup/Restore
This is where you create and restore back-ups of your CIS data.
